Let’s be honest — is there anything more universally loved than pizza? Whether you’re into thin crust, deep dish, wood-fired, or New York-style foldable slices, there’s a version of this cheesy, saucy delight for everyone. In this blog, we’re diving deep into the gooey goodness of pizza — its history, variations, and why it has such a strong hold on our hearts (and taste buds).
A Brief History of Pizza
Pizza’s roots go back thousands of years. Ancient civilizations like the Greeks, Egyptians, and Romans all enjoyed flatbreads with toppings. But the pizza we know today was born in Naples, Italy in the 18th century. The classic Margherita pizza, with its red tomatoes, white mozzarella, and green basil, was allegedly created to represent the Italian flag.
From there, pizza sailed across the ocean to the U.S. with Italian immigrants — and the rest is delicious history.
